Agroforestry is one of the climate change adaptation activities driven by Rikolto’s coffee and cocoa programs. To replicate the learning and best practices happening in the field, Rikolto must create evidence that can be shared with stakeholders to disseminate these best practices. In general, Rikolto’s efforts to create and disseminate best practices are called Evidence for Impact (E4I).

In Indonesia, one of the pilot areas for cocoa-based agroforestry plantations is in Polewali Mandar, in collaboration with program partner Koperasi Mitra Agribisnis Mandiri (MAM). In 2023, a study was conducted to analyze the cocoa plantation conditions in Polewali Mandar, resulting in the design of an agroforestry pilot. By the end of 2023, this pilot model will be initiated by MAM on a demonstration plot.
